Aylmer Police are investigating an online romance fraud that has resulted in a more than $18,000 loss for a local woman.
Police say over the course of roughly 18 months, the victim reported sending thousands of dollars in gift cards to people she believed she had met online.
Investigators determined the incident to be a romance fraud, with suspects posing as public figures.
The investigation is ongoing.
