Southwestern Public Health announced Wednesday afternoon that it has temporarily closed its St. Thomas location at 1230 Talbot Street, following repeated fire alarm activations this morning.
Upon investigation, officials determined the alarms were linked to an issue with an HVAC unit.
Out of an abundance of caution, the health unit has closed the facility to both staff and the public for the remainder of the day.
In an update sent just after 4:30 p.m., Southwestern Public Health noted repairs to the HVAC system are underway. They have confirmed that this work does not interrupt routine operations. As such, the health unit will resume its regular business hours on January 29 at 8:30 a.m.
