Just after 1:15 Thursday morning, St. Thomas Police responded to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital after staff reported a man in the Emergency Department had a knife.
Officers took possession of the knife and hospital staff resumed their duties.
Later in the morning, the man was discharged but refused to leave and again had a weapon.
He eventually left and officers found him a short distance away.
The 36-year-old man faces several charges:
• Assault with a Weapon
• Uttering Threats
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• Failure to Comply with a Release Order
The accused was held in custody pending a court appearance.
No injuries were reported as a result of either incident.
