The St. Thomas Police Service is the recipient of just over $340,000 in provincial funding to support victims and survivors of crime.
The money will be used to partner with Changing Ways, an organization that helps those wishing to end and take responsibility for their abusive behaviour.
These early intervention strategies are designed to provide education, resources and techniques to prevent domestic violence incidents from recurring and escalating to the point of physical violence.
The project reduces risk to victims of intimate partner violence while also reducing the need for police to repeatedly respond to frequent and ongoing domestic violence investigations.
The funding is delivered through the Victim Support Grant program and covers a three-year period ending in 2027.
