A 22-year-old St. Thomas man is facing multiple charges following a disturbance in a northside neighbourhood Wednesday morning.
St. Thomas police say officers responded around 6:30 a.m. to a residence near South Edgeware Road and Burwell Road after reports that a man had entered a unit, caused significant damage and threatened the occupant.
Investigators learned that the accused became aggressive, damaged property, assaulted the victim and pointed what was believed to be a firearm while making threats before leaving the scene.
Police located and arrested the suspect a short time later in the hallway of a nearby apartment building without incident.
Later that afternoon, officers executed a search warrant at a South Edgeware Road residence, contributing to an increased police presence in the area. During the search, a replica firearm believed to be connected to the incident was recovered.
The accused is charged with two counts of breach of probation, two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats, pointing a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
He was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
