The Shamrock Shuffle is more than just a walk—it’s a celebration of community spirit and a commitment to having a positive impact.
And with just days to go, the excitement is growing advises Brian Elliot, executive director of the city’s emergency shelter.
The 13th annual Shamrock Shuffle is March 28, with all proceeds supporting the efforts of Elliot and the staff at The INN.
You’ll have the option of taking part in a 5K Run, 5K Walk or 2K Family Walk – which are open to all ages and abilities.
You can even start thinking about your outfit as there will be awards handed out.
Elliot talks about what makes the Shamrock Shuffle so special.
He makes it clear that shelters are not the solution to homelessness, “But we’re that necessary piece where we can help people become housing ready, address what made them homeless and work on solutions so that they don’t continue to fall back into that and that we can get them into supportive housing or regular housing to stay in the long term.
For Elliot, the amount of laughter and joy that comes out Shamrock Shuffle Day is amazing, and the amount of money raised to support the end is second to none.
To continue to serve the community, Elliot stresses how inportant fundraisers like the Shamrock Shuffle are to the day-to-day operations at the emergency shelter.
He explains the financial impact at The INN as a result of the funds raised each year at the Shamrock Shuffle.
He adds, “We serve quite a few different individuals from all walks of life, and each one of their needs can be slightly different. This fundraising allows us to put the money where it meets the need the best.”
This year’s Shamrock Shuffle is March 28, an inspiring day of fun, fitness, and philanthropy.
