A St. Thomas manufacturer today (Thursday) announced a $3.7 million investment in its Highbury Avenue facility.
Forest City Castings specializes in precision graphite moldings and zinc and aluminum castings for the medical, defence, nautical and robotics fields.
This move will allow Forest City to increase production capacity, strengthen advanced manufacturing capabilities while expanding into new markets.
Forty-two existing jobs will be protected and five new jobs created.
Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Rob Flack made the announcement, noting Forest City Casting’s investment, “Will support growth and innovation across the local manufacturing sector.”
The company plans to add state-of-the-art equipment and modernize and expand its operations.
President Devin McRae added, “By investing in new equipment, we will expand our ability to serve customers across multiple industries while supporting job growth and maintaining our skilled workforce in St. Thomas.”
To support the firm’s investment, the province is providing $500,000 in funding through the Regional Development Program’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.
Forest City Castings re-located to St. Thomas from London in 2004. Its Highbury Avenue operation – in the former Lear Seating factory – is over 110,000 square feet in size.
