An Aylmer woman is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop that led to an assault on police officers.
According to the Aylmer Police Service, officers stopped a vehicle on John Street South around 8:20 p.m. on March 25 after observing it cross the centre line.
Police say officers initiated the stop to check the driver’s sobriety and formed grounds to believe alcohol had been consumed.
The driver was arrested, but investigators say the accused became combative while in custody and allegedly assaulted two officers. Both officers sustained minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.
A 36-year-old Aylmer woman is now facing several charges, including assaulting a peace officer, assault with intent to resist arrest, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and having open alcohol readily available to the driver.
