A St. Thomas man is facing multiple charges after police found him asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle.
The St. Thomas Police Service say officers on community patrol located the vehicle Monday and checked on the driver’s well-being. During that interaction, police say the man showed signs of impairment and performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test.
The 44-year-old was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by drugs.
Police say a search following the arrest uncovered several pieces of fraudulent identification, along with personal information reported stolen out of Sarnia in 2021.
Additional charges include possession of an identity document, identity theft, possession of a forged document with intent, and possession of unmarked cigarettes.
The accused was released on an undertaking. His licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.
