A St. Thomas mom is stepping outside her comfort zone and inviting the community to rally behind her as she competes in a national contest.
Lindsay Payne, a single mom of two, full-time Registered Veterinary Technician, and Practice Manager at Imperial Road Animal Hospital in Aylmer, is taking part in the 2026 Super Mom competition, with voting now underway.
Raised in St. Thomas from an early age, Payne says her life is rooted in the community, surrounded by family, friends, and a strong support system that helps her balance a busy schedule.
At home, Payne is raising her two young sons, William and Andrew, while caring for a house full of pets, many of which were rescued through her work at the animal hospital.
She says balancing it all comes down to showing up every day and leaning on the people around her.
Payne says she entered the competition after coming across it online, drawn not only by the grand prize, which includes $20,000 and a family vacation, but also by the chance to share her story.
She says one of her biggest goals is to remind people they’re not alone and that every family’s journey looks different, even if it doesn’t always show on the surface.
The competition, run through Colossal, also supports Children’s Miracle Network, with fundraising tied to the voting process. Payne explains that participants advance through multiple rounds based on public votes and would love any support she can get.
For Payne, the competition is about more than just winning; it’s about representing St. Thomas and Aylmer, connecting with the community, and inspiring others to share their own stories.
Payne added that regardless of the outcome, the experience has already been so meaningful, and she is grateful for the support she’s received so far.
