A 43-year-old man from Chatham is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in Aylmer early Saturday morning.
According to the Aylmer Police Service, an officer stopped a vehicle on Myrtle Street around 2:30 a.m. on April 18. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected the presence of alcohol and administered a roadside breath test, which resulted in a fail.
Police say the driver was arrested, and further investigation revealed he was already under a criminal prohibition from driving and also had a provincial licence suspension due to unpaid fines.
At the station, the accused provided breath samples that were over the legal limit.
He has been charged with impaired operation, driving while prohibited, and driving while suspended. The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his licence has been suspended for 90 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Elgin County Court next month.
