The Municipality of West Elgin is providing an update on ongoing renovations at the Bo Horvat Community Centre, as well as the status of its Kraft Hockeyville funding.
Officials say work is already underway on the arena board replacement project, with crews removing old boards and completing clean-up. Installation of the new boards is expected to follow, with the project anticipated to be finished by mid-summer.
The municipality notes the upgrades are necessary to ensure the arena can continue operating safely and supporting community use.
However, officials clarified that the current renovation work is not being funded through the Kraft Hockeyville grant.
Instead, those funds remain in reserve as the municipality works to determine how best to allocate them for future improvements. Plans are being finalized to incorporate the grant into additional arena upgrades that will support long-term operations and broader community benefit.
As part of the Kraft Hockeyville 2023 grand prize, West Lorne received $250,000 to assist with arena renovations.
West Elgin officials thanked residents for their patience during the process and said more updates will be shared as planning continues.
