St. Thomas Police are investigating a fraud in which the victim reported receiving a call from the TD Fraud Department, regarding unusual activity.
The caller convinced the victim to deposit $3,000 into a Quebec account number.
After the incident the bank was able to freeze accounts to prevent any further transactions.
St. Thomas Police wishes to remind the community to beware of unsolicited calls claiming to be from financial institutions, regardless of call display.
Scammers can make it seem legitimate.
If you receive a call about suspicious transactions or automatic payments, hang up and contact your bank directly to verify any information.
