Elgin County is inviting residents to take part in a free, family-friendly event next week aimed at making water safety a top priority ahead of the summer season.
The Water Safety Expo will be held on May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Masonic Centre, as part of Emergency Preparedness Week.
Organizers say the event is designed to help people of all ages learn how to stay safe around water, whether at the beach, on the boat, or even at home.
Visitors can expect hands-on demonstrations, safety exhibits, and advice from local experts and organizations focused on drowning prevention and water safety education. Refreshments will also be provided, along with door prizes throughout the day.
The county says the goal is to make safety information both accessible and engaging as warmer weather approaches and more residents head outdoors to enjoy local waterways.
