The City of St. Thomas is looking ahead to future growth with plans to improve one of its key intersections and residents are being invited to help shape the outcome.
A Class Environmental Assessment is now underway for the intersection at South Edgeware Road and Burwell Road to explore several potential options aimed at improving traffic flow, safety, and long-term efficiency.
City officials say the process will evaluate three main alternatives: maintaining the current layout, optimizing existing traffic signals, or converting the intersection into a roundabout.
The City has retained RC Spencer Associates Inc. to lead the study, which will include reviewing roadway design options, assessing potential impacts, and identifying mitigation measures.
Findings and recommendations will be compiled into a final project file, which will be made available for public review.
The goal is to identify a preferred solution that balances transportation needs with future development in the area. Residents are encouraged to take part by reviewing project materials and submitting feedback to the project team.
More information, including a full presentation of the proposed alternatives, is available on the City’s project page.
