Those still trying to plan something fun to do with the family to celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend can take advantage of free fishing across the province.
On May 9th and 10th, Ontarians can enjoy fishing province-wide without having to purchase a licence or carry an Outdoors Card.
“Fishing is a great way for families to make unforgettable memories while enjoying the outdoors,” said Mike Harris, Minister of Natural Resources.
“Free fishing weekends are an opportunity to check out Ontario’s top-notch fishing and take part in a timeless tradition that brings people together right across the province.”
During this free fishing period, however, it is essential to carry valid identification issued by the provincial or federal government, which should include both your name and date of birth.
Catch limits, size limits, sanctuaries, and other regulations still apply. For more details or to find places to fish this weekend, visit OntarioFamilyFishing.com.
Free fishing in Ontario will also be available June 20th and 21st for Father’s Day and from June 27 – July 5 during Family Fishing Week.
