Southwestern Public Health is seeking information following a dog bite incident in St. Thomas earlier this week.
The incident happened on Tuesday, May 12th, around 4 a.m. in the parking lot of the Circle K at 287 Talbot Street.
Officials say the victim was petting a dog that was on a leash when the animal bit them. The dog is described as large, tan in colour, and possibly a Pitbull mix.
The female owner is described as being approximately 5’6” tall, with shoulder-length blonde hair and believed to be in her late 30s.
Public Health says it is trying to confirm the dog’s vaccination status so the victim and their healthcare provider can determine next steps regarding possible rabies post-exposure treatment.
Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to contact Southwestern Public Health at 1-800-922-0096 and ask to speak with a Public Health Inspector.
