As temperatures climb across the region under a Heat Warning, local families looking for a way to cool off now have several options available, with splash pads officially reopening for the summer season over the Victoria Day long weekend.
In St. Thomas, splash pads at Pinafore Park, Waterworks Park, and 1Password Park are now open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. All three locations operate using a touch-activated switch.
Meanwhile, the splash pad at Balmoral Park in Aylmer is also open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Users can activate the water by pressing the silver button located on the ground. Municipal officials note the spray cannon feature is currently unavailable while maintenance work is completed.
In Central Elgin, the splash pad at Don Yeck Park in Belmont is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Residents in West Lorne will have to wait a little longer, with the splash pad at Miller Park scheduled to open June 1st for the season. Once open, it will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through September 1st.
