Four teens from the GTA were arrested Monday evening after a break-in at Muscat Jewelers on Talbot Street.
Just before 6 p.m. St. Thomas Police responded to the address, where three masked males had smashed the front glass door to get in and stole several items before fleeing the scene in a grey Honda CR-V.
About an hour later, the vehicle collided with a transport truck on Hwy. 401, east of Cambridge.
Four suspects fled on foot into a nearby field. Members of the OPP, including Emergency Response Team, K-9, and aerial support, located all four suspects, who were taken into custody.
They were returned to St. Thomas were they were charged.
As a result of the investigation, a 15 year-old-male, two 16-year-old males and a 17-year-old male have been charged with:
- Break and enter
- Disguise with intent
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
The driver of vehicle, identified as one of the 16-year-olds, has been additionally charged with:
Dangerous operation
The Honda CR-V reported stolen out of Toronto, was recovered and seized.
