The Ontario government is extending alcohol service hours across the province during the FIFA World Cup 2026, allowing licensed bars and restaurants to serve until 4 a.m. for the duration of the tournament.
The temporary change will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and is aimed at supporting tourism, hospitality workers, and local businesses as fans from around the world gather for the global event.
Attorney General Doug Downey says the move will help visitors “fully experience the energy, excitement and atmosphere” of the tournament while also driving economic growth and supporting jobs across Ontario.
The 2026 World Cup will be the largest in history, featuring 48 teams across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. In Ontario, Toronto will host six matches at Toronto Stadium, while Vancouver will also be a host city.
The province says it is working with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to implement the temporary extension for licensed establishments throughout the tournament.
The last call for alcohol service in Ontario is typically 2 a.m.
