Residents visiting the Aylmer Police Service can expect some temporary changes as the service begins a major lobby improvement project aimed at enhancing customer service and accessibility.
Construction on the project got underway on Monday, with completion expected by August 2026.
The service says the renovations are designed to improve the experience for residents and visitors accessing in-person services at the station.
Once complete, the upgraded space will feature a public lobby nearly double its current size, additional seating, improved accessibility features, and a dedicated customer service window to better connect residents with staff. The project also aims to support a more victim-centred and community-focused approach to policing.
The improvements are being funded in part through a Provincial Victim Support Grant, with the remaining costs covered through development charges. Police say there will be no impact on the service’s operating budget or the municipal tax base.
During construction, the main public entrance to the station will be closed and fenced off. A temporary public entrance will instead be located on the south side of the building.
Police are also encouraging residents, when possible, to request assistance by phone and have officers attend their location rather than visiting the station in person while construction is underway.
The Aylmer Police Service says it appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as the project moves forward.
