St. Thomas police assisted the St. Thomas Fire Department early Tuesday morning at an active apartment fire on Chestnut Street. Emergency crews were called to 200 Chestnut Street just before 4 a.m. in response to reports of a fire at the building.
Officials say the first floor was safely evacuated as firefighters worked to bring the situation under control.
No injuries have been reported.
Residents in the area may notice continued emergency activity as crews remain on scene to complete their work.
