The city has received just over $2.5 million in provincial funding to support its Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) through to the end of March next year.
This is the same amount as received last year.
The greatest share of that, $600,000 is earmarked for the the city’s emergency shelter, The INN.
The facility had requested $971,000.
The YWCA will receive $244,000 for its supportive housing program and CMHA Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services has been allocated $402,000.
The HPP 2026-27 Investment Plan outlines recommendations of how the funds will be used for the upcoming fiscal year to achieve the following HPP outcomes:
1. Prevent Homelessness: People experiencing homelessness remain housed and have
connections to support services.
2. Address Homelessness: People who are homeless and chronically homeless obtain and retain
housing and support services.
3. Reduce Chronic Homelessness: Reduction in chronic homelessness.
A report from Danielle Neilson, Acting Director of Social Services, is on the agenda for today’s council meeting, beginning at 5 p.m. in the council chamber at city hall.
