Under a brilliant blue sky on Saturday afternoon, a ceremony was held to officially open Central Elgin’s newest park.
A partnership between the municipality and Doug Tarry Homes, the park in the Eagle Ridge subdivision is named after Greg Tarry, a long-time planner and president of Doug Tarry Homes.
Situated on Snowy Owl Trail, the park concept reflects the community’s needs and honours the Tarry family history.
Doug Tarry noted that the park re-introduces the concept of play for youngsters.
A sentiment echoed by Central Elgin Mayor Andrew Sloan.
The park has been carefully designed to cater to children of all ages and abilities.
And, Doug Tarry stressed the importance of connecting with nature.
MP Andrew Lawton pointed out that the park illustrates the difference between a residential development and a community.
An accessible pathway helps ensure inclusivity and ease of access for all park users.
And, in addition to the play areas, the design incorporates seating overlooking the existing stormwater management pond and a welcoming shade structure for families and community members to enjoy.
