A Durham Regional Police recruit has died, and another suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday north of Aylmer.
Both were on their way to the Ontario Police College, near Aylmer, when their car was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer just before noon at the intersection of College Line and Imperial Road in Malahide.
Both vehicles ended up in the ditch; the transport driver was not injured.
In a statement from Durham Regional Police, Chief Peter Moreira said, “During this difficult time, our focus is on supporting the families of our CIT’s, as well as their classmates, instructors, friends, and members of our Service who are grieving this tragic loss. We will continue to ensure they receive the care and support they need.
