A new business dedicated exclusively to small dogs has officially opened its doors at the Elgin Centre, giving pet owners in St. Thomas and Elgin County a new option for daycare, boarding, grooming and more.
Stay N Play Small Dog Daycare and Boutique celebrated its grand opening Saturday, welcoming residents to tour the facility, meet owners Suzanne and John Wiebe, and learn about the services offered.
While speaking with Suzanne during the event, she shared that the business fills a gap she noticed after decades working with dogs, creating a safe, climate-controlled space designed specifically for smaller breeds.
The facility features indoor play areas, overnight boarding, grooming and nail services, and a boutique stocked with products geared toward small breeds. Suzanne says the indoor environment helps keep the dogs comfortable year-round while avoiding concerns like ticks, fleas, and extreme weather.
She and her husband John, who have spent years training dogs together, say seeing the project come to life has been rewarding after months of planning and preparation.
In addition to Suzanne and John, the team includes certified trainers and canine behavior professionals with expertise in positive reinforcement, behavior adjustment training, and enrichment-based care, with a total of over 100 years of training experience.
