In just their second season, the Railway City FC men’s Ontario Premier League Team on Thursday night clinched first place with a 1-0 win over Hamilton United.
However, the job has not been completed, stressed Railway City FC co-chair Abbi Lezizidis.
“Every match from here matters as we continue our fight for promotion to OPL2, the next level of the Ontario Premier League.
This is more than a team chasing results. It’s a club, a city, and a community chasing history together.”
Lezizidis continued, “A huge thank you to our players, coaches, staff, volunteers, sponsors, supporters, and everyone who has believed in Railway City FC from day one. This achievement belongs to all of you.”
The men’s team plays Woodbridge in a playoff showdown, 8:30 p.m. Monday at 1Password Park,
Lezizidis urged, “Let’s pack the stands and show the province what our community is all about. Bring your family. Bring your friends. Wear your Railway City FC or Whitecaps London colours.
“Let’s create an atmosphere that drives this team one step closer to promotion.”
On the women’s side, they are in action at 7 tonight (Saturday) against FC London at Tricar Field in London. Railway City FC needs a win to regain second spot and a possible playoff berth.
