Ontario Provincial Police are warning people about a new cell phone scam that’s showing up across Ontario.
Fraudsters are posing as representatives from major telecom companies, offering what sounds like a free or low-cost phone upgrade.
After collecting your personal information, they arrange for a new phone to be delivered.
They then claim the wrong device was sent and ask you to return it using a shipping label they provide.
The phone ends up in the hands of the scammer, while the victim could be left paying for the device and facing additional fraud.
