A new survey from CAA Ontario suggests rising gas prices are forcing many Ontario families to rethink how they drive, spend and plan their daily activities.
According to the survey, seven in 10 Ontarians between the ages of 35 and 54 say higher fuel costs are affecting their day-to-day lives, with many cutting back on driving, discretionary spending and regular purchases like takeout meals and coffee.
CAA says the impact is being felt as households continue to deal with broader affordability pressures.
The survey found affordability concerns are also influencing summer travel plans.
Nearly seven in 10 respondents aged 35 to 54 said gas prices are affecting their recreational activities and vacation decisions. Among those planning road trips, nearly six in 10 said rising fuel costs are impacting their plans, with some choosing fewer trips, closer destinations or tighter budgets.

Di Felice adds with less families planning trips, many communities across Ontario will feel it.
CAA says drivers can reduce fuel costs by planning efficient routes, removing unnecessary weight from vehicles, avoiding unnecessary rooftop carriers, and maintaining proper tire pressure. Di Felice encourages you to watch your speed as well.
CAA says it continues to advocate for transportation affordability while providing drivers with information and tools to help manage rising costs.
