One week remains to file nomination papers for the 2026 municipal election.
Anyone planning to run for mayor, councillor or school board trustee in St. Thomas or municipalities across Elgin County has until 2 p.m. on Friday, August 21, to submit their nomination papers in person.
Candidates for mayor must pay a $200 filing fee, while those seeking the office of councillor or trustee must pay $100.
Nomination forms must also include an Endorsement of Nomination form signed by 25 qualified electors.
Municipal Election Day is set for Monday, October 26.
