With nominations closing on Friday, the Municipality of Central Elgin now has a mayoral race.
On Monday, Dennis Crevits declared his intention to seek the leadership of municipal council in the coming term.
He had originally sought the deputy mayor’s position.
TVDSB trustee Meaghan Ruddock filed her nomination papers for deputy mayor on Monday.
Ward 2 Councillor Morgaine Griffin had filed her nomination papers for the mayor’s seat in May.
Crevits is a former deputy mayor and two-term councillor. He lost out to current mayor Andrew Sloan in the 2022 municipal election.
His campaign will focus on listening to residents across Central Elgin and developing practical priorities for the community, including responsible financial management, infrastructure, community services, economic development and maintaining the rural and community character that makes Central Elgin a great place to live.
“I love where I live. I am proud to announce my candidacy for mayor of Central Elgin,” said Crevits. “Our community deserves leadership that balances affordability with the long-term interests of residents.”
