Residents across St. Thomas and Elgin County will have several opportunities this fall to get outside, get their hands dirty, and help grow local green spaces.
TD Tree Days is returning to Southwestern Ontario, with volunteers of all ages invited to take part in tree and shrub planting events.
Locally, a planting event is scheduled for September 12th at 1Password Park in St. Thomas, at 355 Burwell Road, running from 9 a.m. until noon. The event is being organized in partnership with the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority.
There are also nearby opportunities, including a September 10th event at Oneida Nation of the Thames, at 2114 Ball Park Road in Southwold, and a September 25th event at Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, at 320 Chippewa Road in Muncey. Both events run from 9 a.m. to noon.
Across Canada, TD Tree Days is aiming to plant 30,000 trees and shrubs this year, working with 75 community organizations.
Since the program began in 2010, volunteers have planted more than 590,000 trees and shrubs through TD Tree Days.
