A special sale of works from two regional artists will benefit the Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation’s efforts to support art in public spaces.
A unique selection of original works by Arthur Roy Morris and David Morris are on exhibit until Sept. 12 in Gallery Three at the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre.
This unique exhibition and sale celebrates the artistic legacy of David Morris, the first director of the art centre in St. Thomas and his father, Arthur Roy Morris.
Laura Woermke, St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre Executive Director/Curator has selected a series of works that offer collectors and art enthusiasts an opportunity to acquire original works.
At the same time supporting visual arts, stresses community foundation executive director Tracy Robinson.
The sale is presented in partnership with Cosens Auctions.
Robinsons details what the proceeds from the sale will be used for.
Robinson pointed out that Cosens Auctions has had a collection of Arthur Roy Morris and David Morris artwork.
And the work is extraordinary. It has to be seen to be appreciated. Both father and son had distinctive styles.
The artwork sale continues through Sept. 12 in Gallery Three at the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre at 301 Talbot Street in St. Thomas.
