Residents across St. Thomas may notice City crews working through the night over the next several weeks.
The City’s annual hydrant flushing program is getting underway this week, with crews flushing fire hydrants throughout the city as part of routine water system maintenance.
The work will take place overnight between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., and is expected to take about four to five weeks to complete.
Residents may see water being released from hydrants during those hours, which is a normal part of the maintenance work.
The flushing can also cause temporary discolouration to the water. If that happens, residents are advised to run their tap closest to the water meter for 10 to 15 minutes.
The City thanks residents for their patience while the maintenance work is completed.
