The local small business community came together Thursday night to celebrate the people and businesses helping shape St. Thomas and Elgin County.
The Elgin/St. Thomas Small Business Enterprise Centre hosted the 17th annual Bridges to Better Business event at St. Anne’s Centre, bringing together entrepreneurs, community leaders and supporters for an evening of food, networking and recognition.
The sold-out event featured the TASTE Food Showcase, with 25 food-based businesses from across St. Thomas and Elgin County serving up everything from sweet treats to international flavours, while Vintera String Quartet played throughout.
The evening also highlighted the hard work and determination of local entrepreneurs through the Elgin & St. Thomas Small Business Awards.

- Monica de Wit, Hugo and Company – Inspirational Entrepreneur Award
- Remt Kennema, Streamline Plumbing – Under 40 Award
- Soso’s Breakfast Tacos – Starter Company Plus Award
- Tony’s Outdoor Services – Summer Company Award
- The Daily Press Cafe – Promising Start-Up Award
- Quaker Springs Farm – Horton Farmers’ Market Award
- Canadale Nurseries – Lifetime Achievement Award
The 17th annual event was capped off with a performance from Dueling Pianos, who turned the St. Anne’s Centre into a high-energy piano bar.
