For the second time this year, a St. Thomas parent has been charged with impaired driving, and in both cases a child was in the vehicle.
Just after 5 p.m. on Monday, St. Thomas Police responded to a local after-school program after receiving a report that a parent who had arrived to pick up a child was showing signs of alcohol impairment.
Officers located the vehicle nearby and during the investigation, the driver displayed further signs of impairment and the 33-year-old individual was arrested for impaired operation.
Breath samples obtained at the police station indicated alcohol concentrations nearly three times the legal limit.
This is the second time in approximately six months that the accused has been charged with an impaired driving offence with a child in the vehicle.
