St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital has declared a Code Silver over after an incident involving a person with a weapon Thursday afternoon.
The hospital says the Code Silver was declared at approximately 3:30 p.m. on October 8, and St. Thomas Police were notified immediately and responded.
As a precaution, the hospital was placed on active hold, with all public entrances secured.
The Code Silver was declared over at approximately 6 p.m.
In a statement, the hospital says there is no ongoing threat inside the facility. However, access remains controlled as an added precaution, with entry limited to the designated north entrance beside the Emergency Department.
No further details will be provided at this time.
