Kathryn Desrosiers has been elected mayor of Aylmer, receiving 1,483 votes in Monday’s municipal election.
Desrosiers defeated Brad Andrews, who received 1,161 votes, and Pete Barbour, who finished with 389.
Six councillors have also been elected to Aylmer council.

The results mean incumbent councillor Jason Rauhe will not return to council. Rauhe received 963 votes. Elsewhere, Aylmer’s current mayor, Jack Couckuyt, was unsuccessful in his bid for a seat on council.
Voter turnout reached 45.6 per cent of registered voters, up from 31.40 per cent in the 2022 municipal election and 29.50 per cent in 2018.
The results remain unofficial. Under the Municipal Elections Act, the official declared results will be available on or after Tuesday, October 27.
