As families across St. Thomas sort through their children’s Halloween candy, police are reminding parents and caregivers to take a close look at the treats before they’re eaten.
The reminder comes after an individual reported finding a piece of a razor blade inside a mini Mars bar received while trick-or-treating Saturday evening.
The individual told St. Thomas Police they had visited homes around Centre Street and Margaret Street in the courthouse area. However, the specific address where the chocolate was handed out is unknown.
The chocolate bar and reported blade have been turned over to police for examination as part of an ongoing investigation.
Police say they have not received any other similar reports in St. Thomas at this time.
While the investigation continues, families are encouraged to carefully inspect all Halloween candy and packaging. If something looks suspicious, don’t eat it. Keep the item and its packaging and contact police.
Anyone with information about the incident is also asked to contact the St. Thomas Police Service.
