The doors to dozens of local creative spaces will be open this weekend as the Elgin County Studio Tour returns for its third year.
The free, self-guided event takes place Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, giving visitors the chance to explore studios and meet the artists behind the work.
The tour was created to showcase the depth of artistic talent across the region, with studios located throughout Elgin County and a variety of mediums represented.
That was one of the tour’s founding members and participating artists, Mary Intven Wallace, who says the event is about much more than simply viewing artwork.
The Studio Tour also gives residents a chance to support local artists directly, with original artwork and handmade pieces available for purchase at participating studios. For Intven Wallace, that local connection is an important part of the weekend.
The tour is designed to be accessible to both longtime art lovers and people who may simply be curious about the creative community in Elgin County.
Visitors can plan their own route using the tour’s online interactive map, or pick up a printed map showing participating artists and studio locations.
The Elgin County Studio Tour runs September 26 and 27. The event is free, and visitors can spend a few hours visiting studios or make a full weekend of exploring the participating artists across the county.
