The Dollywood Foundation, home of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, announced that September 25 is Give Like Dolly Day.
A day dedicated to supporting local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library programs and honouring Dolly’s extraordinary legacy of inspiring children to dream big and develop a lifelong love of reading.
At the heart of Give Like Dolly Day are the thousands of Local Imagination Library partners around the world who help carry Dolly’s mission forward in their own communities.
Locally, this includes the Kiwanis Club of Port Stanley which joined the program in 2023.
Kathryn Kenney with the Port Stanley club explains their connection to the Imagination Library.
The Imagination Library has over three million youngsters registered in five countries: Canada, the U.S., the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Australia.
As Kenney notes, it has been well received in Port Stanley.
She explains how the program works for families with young children.
On Give Like Dolly Day, the public will be encouraged to:
• Give directly to their local Imagination Library Partner to help more children in their community receive books.
• Help bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to their community if a local program is not currently available.
• Share how they Give Like Dolly and encourage others to support children in their own communities using #GiveLikeDolly.
Kenney walks you through how you can donate, with the money credited directly to the Kiwanis Club of Port Stanley.
