For many people, the Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show is a family tradition, but there is much more to the Fair than the midway, food, and evening entertainment.
Norfolk County Agricultural Society General Manager Angela Hogeveen says the 186-year history of the Fair, along with its timing, helps create something you can’t find at other fairs.
Hogeveen says you really feel that once you walk through the gate. Adding that everyone has their favourite part of the fair.
The competition side of the Fair is also a major part of the event, although it may not always receive the same attention as the midway and entertainment.
But it is very important to lots of people in the community.
She adds that judges always love seeing the many different entries that come in.
The fair is also committed to rewarding everyone for their hard work.
Adults who enter competitions also receive a free Fair pass, allowing them to come back and see their entries and find out whether they have earned a ribbon.
The 186th Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show runs October 6 through 12.
