The intersection of Fairview Road and John Wise Line in Central Elgin became an all-way stop on Thursday, October 15th.
Elgin County says the safety enhancements include oversized stop signs on both sides of the road, larger stop-ahead signs, rumble strips, and red lenses in the overhead beacons.
The speed limit along Fairview Road has also been reduced to 70 kilometres an hour from Southdale Line, extending south for 2.05 kilometres.
The county says the intersection will be reviewed as part of the next Transportation Master Plan, planned for 2030, to assess whether further improvements, such as traffic signals or a roundabout, are needed as the surrounding area develops.
