Libraries are about more than books. They’re places where people of all ages can come together, learn, and connect with their community.
The St. Thomas Public Library is inviting residents to celebrate those connections Tuesday, October 20, with its Loud For Your Library Day event to kick off Ontario Public Library Week.
The morning begins at 10:30 a.m. with a special storytime featuring Mayor Joe Preston, giving families an opportunity to bring their little ones out for a story and community connection.
This year’s Ontario Public Library Week theme is “Loud for Libraries,” encouraging people to speak up, show their support, and recognize the important role libraries play in their communities. Beyond books and quiet study spaces, libraries are vibrant hubs for creativity, conversation, learning, and civic engagement.
Following storytime, a flag-raising ceremony will take place at City Hall at 11 a.m., with a reception and light refreshments back at the library at 11:30 a.m.
The event is open to all ages, and residents are encouraged to come out and show their support for their local library.
