The Aylmer police are warning the public about a recent Canada Revenue Agency scam that was attempted on a resident. The police say the 60 year-old woman received a call from a person who claimed to be from the CRA. The called then proceeded to allegedly threaten that the woman would be arrested if she did not give her banking information.
The woman did not give the caller any of her information and notified the police. The police are reminding the public that the CRA will never ask you for personal banking information or other personal information like a passport or health card numbers.
The CRA will also never threaten your arrest or sending the police on you. They will also never demand any form of immediate payment, bitcoin, e-transfer or pre-paid credit card.
