The annual “Doors Open Ontario” program will be making its way to Elgin County this October. The program allows people to get a behind the scenes look at buildings, gardens, and other historic places across Ontario. The free program is run by the Ontario Heritage Trust, which is an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport and has been recognized as on of the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario.
Doors Open will be running their program in St. Thomas on October 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will explore places that make St. Thomas so special such as the Princess Avenue Playhouse, Elgin County Museum, St. Thomas Cemetery, Elgin County Archives as well as 8 other locations throughout the city.
Dutton Dunwich will also be home to one of the 25 stops and will highlight areas around the town such as the Lumley & Company General Store, Iona Hall, Lucas House, Memorial Hall and 6 other locations.
