St. Thomas has been ranked number 33 on the Best Communities In Canada With Affordable Real Estate. With the price of houses continuing to rise throughout Canada, Mcleans has put out a Top 100 list of best places to live that also have affordable real estate.
Buying a home continues to be a challenge for Canadians, especially in major cities where residents earnings are almost entirely priced out of the real estate market. Single millennials, who can’t rely on the power of two incomes to qualify for a mortgage are also finding it to be increasingly difficult to afford a home in Canada. The ranking system that places St. Thomas at 33, was determined based on 10 categories that included wealth and economy, affordability, population growth, taxes, commute, crime, weather, access to health care, amenities and culture.
Although St. Thomas lacks in some areas such as amenities and wealth and economy, we make up for it with our access to health care, weather, and culture. A full ranking was also released by Mcleans placing St. Thomas at 84 overall for the best communities to live in out of 415 communities.
