Clar-i-ty Solutions in St. thomas has been recognized as a Living Wage Employer. Living Wage St. Thomas – Elgin presented the bookkeeping, finance and personal taxes company with a certificate on Thursday (August 22).
The certificate recognizes the company for paying its employees a wage that covers the actual costs of living in the community, above minimum wage.
The local local living wage is $16.57.
CEO and Founder Scott Caslick says that he decided to provide a living wage as a way to show his employees how much they really mean to him.
Caslick says that as soon as he learned about the living wage, he knew that it was something that he wanted to provide for his staff.
Small Business Enterprise Centre Manager Tara McCaulley says that while providing a living wage makes a lot of sense from the outside, for a small business that can actually a very difficult thing to do.
Other local businesses who have been recognized as living wage employers include Steelway Building Systems, H.D. Painting, Forest City Castings, and Gorman-Rupp Pump.
