August was the third highest month for volume of residential housing sales in the last 10 years. That’s according to the London and St. Thomas Association of Realtors monthly report that states that 917 homes were sold last month. The 917 are just 4 below the sales for August of last year. St. Thomas had its second best August for sales with 68 houses sold, while Elgin County saw 60 homes sold.
St. Thomas continued to be one of the most affordable places in the area to buy a home, with the an average selling price of $342,134, an increase of 15.9% from August of last year. Elgin County’s average sale price was up 6.1% from August of last year at $363,749.
In the overall LSTAR region the average sale price was $413,010.
