A 36 year-old St. Thomas man is facing an impaired driving charge after police allege he was driving a rental car while impaired on Thursday night (Sept 5) in Waterworks Park. A concern citizen called the St. Thomas Police after witnessing the man pull into a parking spot in the park and use the restroom.
When officers arrived they administered a roadside screening test which the man failed.
The man was taken into custody and brought to the police station for additional testing. Police say breath samples showed the man to have more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system. He’s been charged with impaired driving and has been released with a future court date.
The rental vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.
